The Right Questions
Job 38;3 “ Brace yourself like a man , I will question you , and you shall answer me”
As we begin this New Year, I am reminded of something I read by Selwyn Hughes where he took five questions asked by God in the book of Genesis.
The first asks
“Where are you?”
Looking at the year ahead my focus needs to be on the important things in life, my God, my Family, my Church and then the other things that constantly call for my attention.
“Who told me?
” Am I going to listen to the many voices jockeying for place in my life, or am I going to go back to the trusted source of wisdom “The Bible” to be my guide this coming year.
“What have you done?”
Without Gods guidance in my life, I just succeed in making a mess of things. My wish for this year is that I will be less inclined to act before seeking guidance from my Lord Jesus and that I run my life by Godly principles.
“Why are you so Angry?”
If I am truthful, I really want to be judged by my intention and to judge others by their actions. I pray that God will enable me to look to the root of my problems and face up to my sin rather than blame my predicament on some circumstance or situation.
“Where is your Brother?”
My walk is not about my needs or wants or how comfortable I am, but rather on the example set by my Lord. Am I willing to lay down my all for the sake of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus? When all is said and done the one thing I want to take out of this World when my Lord calls me home, is knowing I have told people about the message of salvation and invited them to accept Him as their Lord and Saviour.
My prayer for all of us at BCC is that we are faithful in this task.
